Sprout Social
Monitor all your social media accounts from one place. Phyllax connects to Sprout Social's unified inbox, publishing queue, and analytics — and alerts you when something needs your attention across any platform.
Quick Setup
- Log in to sproutsocial.com
- Go to Settings (gear icon) → API
- Click Generate new token — copy the token
- Note your Customer ID (shown on the same page)
- In Phyllax → Integrations → Sprout Social → Connect → paste both values
Advanced plan required
The Sprout Social API is only available on Advanced plan or higher. If you're on Standard or Professional, you won't be able to generate an API token. Check your plan at Settings → Billing.
Required Credentials
| Field | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| API Token | sproutsocial.com → Settings → API → Generate new token |
| Customer ID | sproutsocial.com → Settings → API (shown at the top of the page) |
Finding your Customer ID
If you can't find your Customer ID, connect Sprout Social in Phyllax and ask the AI assistant: "What's my Sprout Social customer ID?" — it will call get_customer_id and return it.
What Phyllax Monitors
| Schedule | What it checks |
|---|---|
| Unread messages | DMs, comments, and mentions across all connected social platforms in your Smart Inbox |
| Negative sentiment | Negative comments, complaints, bad reviews, or concerning sentiment across all platforms |
| Message volume spike | Unusual surge in incoming messages — could signal a viral moment or a brand crisis |
| Failed posts | Posts that failed to publish, were rejected by the network, or had errors |
| Pending approvals | Posts waiting for team approval in the publishing queue |
| Engagement summary | Cross-platform engagement metrics — likes, comments, shares, reach, impressions |
| Brand mentions | New mentions, tags, or conversations about your brand via social listening |
| Post performance | Recent post metrics — flags top performers and underperformers |
Notification Actions
When Sprout Social finds something important, the notification card shows context-aware action chips:
| Situation | Actions |
|---|---|
| Negative comment / complaint | Reply to comment · Escalate · View in Sprout |
| Unanswered messages | Reply · View in Sprout |
| Message spike | View in Sprout · View analytics |
| Failed post | Reschedule · View post |
| Pending approval | Approve · Edit post · View in Sprout |
| Engagement changes | View post · View analytics |
| Brand mentions | Reply to comment · Like · View post |
Action chips that involve writing (Reply, Approve, Edit post, Escalate) open the AI draft panel — AI generates a suggested response that you can edit before acting.
How It Works With Your Other Integrations
Sprout Social manages social media at the platform level — it aggregates Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube into one dashboard. If you also have individual platform integrations connected in Phyllax (e.g. Instagram directly), Sprout Social monitors will cover the same content from a centralized view.
Recommendation: If your team uses Sprout Social, connect Sprout Social instead of individual platforms. You'll get the same monitoring coverage with better analytics and team features.
Troubleshooting
"Invalid API token"
Your token may have been revoked or expired. Generate a new one at sproutsocial.com → Settings → API.
"Customer ID not found"
Double-check the Customer ID in your Sprout Social API settings. It's a numeric ID, not your account name. You can also ask the AI assistant to run get_customer_id after connecting.
"API access not available"
The Sprout Social API requires an Advanced plan or higher. Standard and Professional plans don't include API access. Contact Sprout Social sales to upgrade.
Limited tools available
The current MCP package (@kodowjam/sprout-social-mcp) provides profile listing, post creation, and post details. Listening, inbox, and analytics data are accessed indirectly through the AI's ability to query your connected profiles. Full inbox and analytics API support depends on future MCP package updates.
